Welcome to blarneystar.com. We borrowed the site name from the Blarney Star bar, owned and operated by Tony Brady for many years on Murray Street in downtown Manhattan. Friday night concerts of Irish traditional music took place in the Blarney Star's basement for a decade that spanned the turn of this century. The bar, alas, is no more, but there's still plenty of good Irish music in New York City, including the monthly "Blarney Star" concerts hosted during the school year by Glucksman Ireland House at New York University and the weekly Monday night sessions at the Landmark Tavern on Eleventh Avenue at 46th Street in midtown Manhattan. MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS RESUME AT THE LANDMARK TAVERN, JULY 12
The Landmark Tavern at 11th Avenue and 46th Street is one of New York City's oldest and most historic bar/restaurants. Since 2007, the Landmark has hosted a Monday night session of Irish traditional music led by Don Meade and friends. Sessions were suspended due to the pandemic but will start up again on Monday, July 12, from 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. Click on the Landmark page on this website to check out each week's special musical guest.
